Showroom and Gallery Manager/Artist

The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for art, a keen eye for detail, and strong managerial skills. Responsibilities will include managing daily operations, planning and coordinating exhibits, networking with artists and clients, and ensuring proper care and maintenance of the showroom’s samples, art, and blown artworks. This person will also be instrumental in designing and creating beautiful and intricate pieces of art and artisan glass for both residential and commercial projects; as well as testing a wide variety and range of potential new products.

Showroom and Gallery Manager/Artist Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design, create, and assist with glass projects, experimentation, and testing
  • Manage daily operations of the showroom/gallery, including closing and opening procedures
  • Plan and coordinate openings and events, including layout design and artwork
  • Network with artists, clients, and industry professionals
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of artwork
  • Manage showroom/gallery and volunteers, including scheduling
  • Procurement of studio supplies and consumables as needed
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new visitors and clients
  • Manage showroom/gallery budget, including sales transactions and record keeping
  • Design and create art glass pieces for residential and commercial projects
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their design requirements and preferences
  • Work towards the creation of client approved and testing unique glass pieces as well as coordinate with a team to fabricate components ready for installation
  • Other duties as assigned

Showroom and Gallery Manager/Artist Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field
  • Proven work experience as a Gallery Manager or similar role
  • Deep understanding and appreciation for glass art
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of glass art projects
  • Experience in marketing and sales of artistic works
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to learn new skills and self-educate as the needs of the position evolve
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills
  • Excellent networking and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in management and record keeping
  • Be able to work in a glass environment dealing with heat and using all necessary safety protocols and gear
  • Knowledge of current trends in glass art and design
  • Knowledge of art shipping and care techniques
  • Passion for arts education and a passion for glass as a creative material
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite

Salary: part-time or full-time: avg. hourly $25.91/hr. Avg Salary $30k (bonus Opps up to $95k)
