Robin Stanaway

Tell us about yourself.

American artist Robin Stanaway is a sculptor who lives in Taos, New Mexico. Her installations in glass, light, space (and sometimes sound) have been exhibited at the P.S.1 Museum MOMA in New York City, the NIME Conference in Paris, France; Steim in Amsterdam, the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Steuben Gallery, New York; Tucson Museum of Art and Queens Museum of Art among others. As the recipient of a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation fellowship, Stanaway created “The River”; a 77-foot installation of glass mobiles and projected light for the opening of the Pittsburgh Glass Center, where she was also the first artist in residence.

The artist’s work is included in permanent collections such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C and Capital One Corporate Collection and the Whitaker Center for the Arts.

Some of Stanaway’s commissions include; ”Nebula” an installation commissioned by Nine Dot Arts in Denver, Colorado; “Continuum”, a large scale cast glass and fabricated stainless steel public artwork created for the lobby of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, “Luminaries” a series of sculptures for the Pennsylvania Governor’s Awards for the Arts, Science and Humanities; ; and “Genesis” a site specific installation in seven windows at the Temple Emanuel, Mount Lebanon, PA.

Stanaway received an Masters in Fine Arts in Glass Sculpture from The Ohio State University and a BFA in Photography, Film and Intermedia from Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

What is your dream project?

A retrospective at The Guggenheim Museum.
