Part Time Glassblower – Warner Art Glass

The Hot Shop and Position:

Our hot shop houses a brand new, 750 pound day tank, 2 glory holes, 3 annealers and a garage. Along with an hourly compensation, employees are offered allotted blow time each week. We are currently looking for 1, possibly 2, glassblowers to fill a PT Make & Take instructor position. The right candidate will be performing our Hot Glass Encounters as well as some light production work and assisting in the Glass Memorial process. Experience with Make & Takes desired, but will train the right person. Must have at least 2 years of glassblowing experience.

We are looking for someone to join our team who:

-Enjoys working as a part of a team.
-Has glassblowing and some coldworking experience.
-Has hands-on experience teaching hot glass in our daily classes designed for people without prior experience. (This skill is preferred, but not required. We can teach you how to teach!)
-We strive to create a friendly and educational environment in both our store and our studio.
-All team members are expected to be professional, personable, and proactive in order to enhance our studio environment and customer experience.

All applicants should possess the following qualifications:

Intermediate to advanced glassblowing skills and at least intermediate knowledge of coldworking, ideally 2+ years of professional hot glass experience
Must be able to produce paperweights, cups, ornaments, bowls, vases and other basic objects with ease
Strong work ethic
Outgoing, positive and friendly personality
Comfortable with public speaking; ability to work and speak in front of large groups of people
Ability to represent WAG professionally and safely

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Keeping the studio in proper working order
Daily and weekly cleaning and upkeep of the studio
Be informed and knowledgeable of all process, rules, regulations, upcoming events, programs and classes as well as being prepared to answer questions
Coldwork student work
Teach ‘Make and Take’ hot glass classes
Assist in creating Memorial Glass with both human and animal remains
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
Safely operate general glassblowing equipment
Must be able to work scheduled days which includes weekends

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour to start
