Glass Arts Education and Partnerships Manager – Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts

Hours: Full time, salary

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000

Reports to:  Executive Director

Description: The glass arts education and partnerships manager reports to the executive director and has oversight and responsibility for the education programming at Foci MCGA. The glass arts education and partnerships manager is required to promote the interests of Foci MCGA and present a positive and supportive work environment. This leadership position requires a high level of professionalism and behavior, problem solving, teamwork and flexibility along with community education knowledge, partnership knowledge, and glass arts knowledge. 

Position Breakdown

Glass Arts Education Manager 75% 

  • Manage core class calendar, discovery classes and special events, tech sessions, and open studio sessions.
  • Schedule, co-curate, and manage logistics for adult classes, youth classes, local artist talks, and demos
  • In collaboration with ED manage visiting artist residency program including scheduling, hosting and logistics
  • Interview and onboard instructors alongside ED
  • Assign and schedule instructors to teach classes
  • Assign and schedule TAs and interns serving as TAs
  • Evaluate and support instructors in professional development needs
  • Ensure all instructors are up to date with trainings and studio protocols
  • Maintain and update syllabi for classes 
  • Monitor and acquire needed supplies for education and partnership programming
  • Act as the primary contact for all Foci educational and partnership programming
  • Oversee enrollment and scholarships
  • Work with admin assistant on evaluation collection, confirmation emails, and class material creation and distribution
  • Work with administrative team on cancellations, and rescheduling of programming
  • Develop new programming in response to community needs and evaluation
  • In collaboration with admin, make sure registration databases, programming signups, and class surveys are being recorded, sent, and responded to
  • In collaboration with admin, release new classes on website on a quarterly basis
  • Other program duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Partnerships Manager 15%

  • Develop and maintain partnership programming serving opportunity youth and other groups
  • Coordinate schedules, goals, instructors, and outcomes
  • Work in tandem with ED on partnership contracts, MOUs, logistics, budgets, and invoices
  • Bring in new partnerships using current ones as a successful model

Arts Center Collaboration 5%

  • Work with technical staff and ED to propose studio updates, new equipment, etc.
  • Work with marketing and gallery staff to promote classes and events and schedule needed instructors
  • Work with staff as needed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for customers, students and staff
  • Welcome customers to Foci MCGA and answer their questions as needed
  • Process point of sale purchases and returns when needed
  • Assist customers with reservations and cancellations as needed
  • Assist with annual programming budget as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Support the state fair gallery and glassblowing program and other all hands on deck programs and events

Instructor 5%

  • Teach core glass art classes when needed in kilnforming, glassblowing, lost wax casting, and/or stained glass.

Qualifications and Work Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate college degree in glass, equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of two years instructing or managing glass art classes
  • Experience working in a community education environment
  • Experience working in a glass studio environment
  • Experience working with youth
  • Experience writing syllabi and working with syllabi
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to type and to use and maintain databases with accuracy
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to systematically think through projects, backwards plan, and adhere to a budget
  • Ability to work independently and with direction
  • Knowledge of Google workspace
  • A positive attitude and collaborative nature
  • Confidence talking in front of a crowd
  • Ability to welcome and effectively work with people of many lived experiences
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Ability to bend and stretch to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Ability to stand on feet throughout the day
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
