5 Unbeatable Reasons to Experience Italy with GAS!

Join GAS in Italy from September 23 to October 2, 2025 as we explore the best glass, craft, cuisine, and wine Italy has to offer! On our GAS Travel Program trips, we take an intimate group of craft enthusiasts behind the scenes to the world’s premier cultural destinations. Registration for our Italian excursion to Venice, Ravenna, and the Prosecco Hills opens on February 14. Need more reasons to join us in Italy? The list is infinite, but here are just five reasons why you need to travel with GAS to Italy:

1. Behind-the-scenes access to your favorite artists

Venice is one of the great glass epicenters of the world, but unless you have a connection to a studio, it’s hard to experience Venetian glassmaking outside of the tourist shops. Here’s where GAS comes in: as a glass-focused organization, we have deep ties with some of the most sought-after studios and artists in Venice and Murano; some of these artists and studios never open their doors to the public, so don’t miss your chance to see these maestros at work! Artists and studios on our itinerary include*:

  • Lino Tagliapietra Showroom
  • Luigi Bevilacqua workshop
  • Lunardelli Venezia workshop
  • Davide Salvadore
  • Pietro e Riccardo Ferro and more!

*Activities and participants are subject to change.

2. Day trips to Ravenna + Prosecco Hills

We’re not just exploring the ancient crafts of the Venetian Lagoon; we’ll also journey inland for incomparable cuisine straight from Nonna’s kitchen and delectable wine in the Prosecco Hills. In both destinations, you’ll have ample free time to explore the beauty of Italy, including the incredible glass mosaics scattered throughout Ravenna. Literature lovers won’t want to miss the resting place of famed 13th-century poet Dante Alighieri in Ravenna.

3. Incredible food

Italy is a feast for all the senses, but none more so than taste. Enjoy a variety of epicurean delights from seafood in Venice to authentic pizza in Ravenna. Our trip pricing includes five evenings of fine dining so you don’t have to worry about budgeting extra for incredible food.

4. Great company

Our intimate group of 18 travelers plus two GAS staff members will have a chance to bond over our shared love of glass during our excursion. A traveler from our Fall 2024 trip to Oaxaca said: “I enjoyed being in a small group of people who shared a love of art & being taken care of so well by our local guides & Julie & Brandi.”

5. The piėce de resistance: our signature Glasstronomy dinner

At GAS, we like to end our trips with a bang! Our signature Glasstronomy dinner combines the magic of hot glass with delectable food. There’s no better way to toast the end of a great trip.

Don't wait–space is limited on this trip of a lifetime!
